I work with a lot of people who don’t have a lot of experience in front of the camera and I absolutely love that challenge. It’s all about being able to make them feel comfortable & directing them so they aren’t confused or aren’t sure what to do. This often has to be done in a very short time (5-10mins) as to allow the client to maximize their time. This shoot was not like that though…
Robert is a former WWE wrestler and when he retired from that world he has built up a pretty impressive acting resume with roles in Sherlock, 300, Pacific Rim and Deadpool 2 to just name a few. After a few emails back and forth we established the style and look of the shoot and boy did he deliver!
Being able to just give him an emotion and watch him bring that to life was amazing! While there is always still some directing no matter the subject (chin up, chin down, more angry, more happy, etc etc) I had very little directing to do with him. We had some wonderful chats during the shoot and the legend is true, he is one of the nicest and most humble person I have ever met.
This is also pretty well the first time I wasn’t the tallest person at the shoot… thanks to Bonnie Dilag for her grooming skills!
