I work with a lot of people who don’t have a lot of experience in front of the camera and I absolutely love that challenge. It’s all about being able to make them feel comfortable & directing them so they aren’t confused or aren’t sure what to do. This often has to be done in a very short time (5-10mins) as to allow the client to maximize their time. This shoot was not like that though…
I have been photographing this amazing campaign for about 4 years. It is one of the shoots I look forward to the most every year. The purpose of the campaign is to raise money for needs at the Moncton Hospital. For the people in the images, every year, they use actual patients. Patients who have benefited directly from the care of the hospital.
Kevin is a super talented musician and all around great guy who needed some new images for promo. We had some really great chats on this shoot about music, photography and really just life in general. That’s one of the things I really love about what I do, the conversations I get to have with the people I work with.
Peggi is someone very special to me. One of the first trips I made to Toronto I was connected with her and she was extremely encouraging and gave me a chance to work with some of her models (she runs an agency there). Now, let me be clear here, I had virtually zero experience working with models. I just needed someone to give me a chance and I’m so incredibly thankful for the chance she gave me.
A few months back I created these images with the players of the Moncton Magic. I had pretty specific ideas I wanted to try out and really wanted to push myself to do something I had never done before. Check out the full post with a BTS look at the setup when you read on!
Last summer I had the pleasure of working with the extremely talented actors on the set of “A La Valdrague“. I photographed all the main actors and a couple secondary ones as well that they would then use for promo and a few other uses. I had SUCH a blast creating these images. The actors were absolutely incredible to work with and were able to give me so much variety in such little time. Read on to see a few of my selects from the shoot.
Markus Burke is an independent wrestler based in Moncton who travels all over and has built quite a name for himself. I had seen photos of him on Facebook and followed along with his career and was so excited when his wife-to-be, Emily, approached me to do a shoot with him. This guy works his ass off. Being successful as a wrestler, especially in Atlantic Canada, is not an easy task. This guy has incredible hustle. The respect I have for him, his work ethic, and not to mention his awesome look had me extremely pumped for our shoot.
Catherine and Gab’s mom contacted me to purchase a shoot for them. I love these emails. I love mothers, husbands, wives, sister, grandparents who reach out to buy a shoot for someone they love. Someone who is incredibly beautiful to them, inside and out, and someone who they want to see in themselves what others see in them. Some people just don’t realize the power of photography and what it can do for you. The confidence and what it can do for your self-image is astounding. What you don’t see when you look at these images are the smiles, the giddiness when they see themselves in the photos and the confidence these kind of shoots create. I don’t sell photos, I sell confidence. I want you to look at these images, post these images, whatever you want to do and see a confident person who is beautiful inside and out.
A selection of images from a recent shoot with Derek Martin. Derek is the President of Downtown Moncton Inc, is on the board of directors, runs a startup called Tuba, hosted a tv show, ran a company for 12yrs and has his hands in a few other projects… busy man with an incredible energy.. oh and he’s in his mid 30s! He’s incredibly humble and a really great guy. We shot for a little over an hour and had some really great chats. Read on for more.
We’ve doing a lot of work for teams over the last year or so, finance groups, law firms, accounting firms and more! The Cormier Group wanted a more polished look for their new website and it was an absolute blast working with them! Read on for the full set of images with makeup by the awesome Belle by Joelle
For the last few years I have had the pleasure of doing the photography for The Friends Of The Moncton Hospital campaigns along side the wonderful people at Hawk! It is something I greatly look forward to shooting every year. This past year Hawk wanted to showcase the people. The people that this campaign helps, the ones who have needed the help and continue to. We were fortunate to sit with these amazing people and listen to their stories. They were quite emotional days but the one common factor in all these people is their positivity. It’s incredibly amazing to talk with people who have been through such hard times and to see them being so positive. It was beyond inspirational and I felt so lucky to be there while they shared their stories.
A couple of years ago I had heard about this guy who lived in Moncton (well Riverview but who the hell knows where that place is), had amassed a huge following on Instagram, was taking kick ass photos of food he was cooking and was also a writer.
